Candidate for Calhoun County Commission....Greater Albion Area

As a Veteran, Husband, Father and Active Community Member I know from experience, we all need to set aside partisan politics and work towards mutual goals. As your County Commissioner, I will work hard to find common ground on local issues that affect us all.

I am a Silver Life Member of the Albion Branch NAACP. I strongly believe in and advocate for Justice and Equality for everyone.

As a member of the Greater Albion Chamber of Commerce I support local business. Small Business and the Working Class depend on each other. The better the working class does, the more disposable income they have to spend at local small businesses.

Scott Brown Denounces False Attacks by Kale, Calls on Opponent to Come Clean
Kale lying about Brown’s record in desperate bid to save failing campaign

ALBION – Today Scott Brown, candidate for Calhoun County Commission, denounced the false attacks made by his opponent in the latest edition of the Advisor & Chronicle. In a recent column, Art Kale asserted numerous false claims about Brown’s record as Calhoun County Road Commissioner.

“As a veteran, honesty and integrity matter to me, and they should matter to the people of Calhoun County,” said Brown. “I’m proud of my service on the Road Commission. Lying about my record of investing in our roads and protecting working families won’t create a single job. It’s time for Art to come clean and stop misleading voters with these false attacks.”

Specifically, Kale claimed Brown “doesn’t mention that he was the Road Commission Chair for the past five years” on his website. In reality, Brown’s campaign literature and public Facebook profile clearly indicates his position on the Road Commission.

Kale also falsely claimed Brown “depleted the General Fund $2 million to a negative $185,000.” Official road commission records show that when Brown took office, there were accounts payable of over $2 million due, which were left unpaid by the previous administration.

“We inherited a melted ball of wax and immediately set course to right the Road Commission,” said Brown. “In two short years, we brought the Road Commission back into fiscal accountability and improved our road ratings by two positions higher, as compared to other counties in the state. We have had a balanced budget every single year I have served on the road commission.”

“I do not believe in tearing another candidate down for the purposes of political gain. We earn the trust of voters by engaging in a positive exchange of ideas, not negative campaigning that uses lies, distortions and innuendo.”

Job Training Should Be County Priority

We need to invest time, energy and resources into job training programs. This will not only help get people back to work but will also help fulfill the needs of current and future employers. One of the first requirements, a potential employer looking to locate in a new area has, is a qualified work force. If we can not demonstrate that we have trained workers, we will continue to struggle with attracting new employers. Many aspects of our economy are local. It is our responsibility to make a better economy.

The more people we help get into good jobs, the better our small businesses will do. Small business drives our economy. If working families have disposable income, they will spend it at our local businesses.

How can so many jobs remain unfilled with unemployment so high?

Why I’m Running

“I’m humbled by the opportunities I have had for many years now to serve county residents,” said Brown. “I’ve learned a lot and have contributed a lot while serving on several county boards, so now I feel prepared to take those experiences and bring positive change to our county. When those we elect treat government like a corporation by putting profits or numbers before people, the county is bound to see a ‘race to the bottom’ in terms of jobs, public services and quality of life. I’m for every-day, ordinary workers and families. That’s who I’m fighting for in this election. I believe government’s role is about putting people first. ”
